NBM began a community Food Pantry (HARP) in 2008. Since its inception, the church has worked to raise funds from the area businesses and local grants. We continue our efforts to raise funds to provide food to this annual growing population. Harp is self-supporting, raising funds through rummage sales, raffles, bake sales, collecting funds where ever we can. Without the help of the community we would be unable to provide much needed food to people in the area. We receive donations from churches, businesses, farmers and individuals in the area. 1 in 5 people in Montmorency County is food insecure (don’t know where their next meal will come from). Food insecurity and poverty are not the same. Unemployed or under employed rather than poverty is a stronger predictor of food insecurity. HARP is currently helping about 400 people a month; many of these are children and seniors.
